Dianne Jones Andrews, a seasoned public servant with roles ranging from U.S. Congress to FEMA Congressional Officer, is up for re-election to the Snow Hill Town Commissioner board. Her community involvement also includes serving as the Director of a local food pantry.
On Monday, September 25th, the staff of West Greene Elementary hosted their first Title One event of the 2023-2024 school year, Family Literacy Night, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. Snow Hill - The Greene County Parks and Recreation Department has announced the dates for Fall Sports sign-ups. Parents who are interested in signing up their children for Flag Football, Baseball, T-Ball, and Soccer can do so at the Greene County Wellness Center from August 28 through September 15. Some sports may request a copy of your child's Birth Certificate.
Greene County Schools held an Aviation and Aerospace camp for Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted rising 4th and 5th-grade students from July 10th to 12th. The camp, organized in partnership with community members and organizations, provided an array of enriching experiences.
A few Greene County Schools will look different this upcoming school year with new personnel in administrative roles. The changes were approved at the Greene County Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Snow Hill - The Town of Snow Hill has released its proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024, outlining the expected revenues, expenditures, and key decisions for the upcoming year. The budget, submitted by Town Manager Todd Whaley, includes a balanced General Fund Budget of $1,346,252.00 and a balanced Water/Sewer Fund Budget of $1,327,404.00.
Twenty-year-old Travis Rouse of Snow Hill has a new job with a promising career in his future, and it all started at Lenoir Community College (LCC). Career Advisor Tracey Price met Rouse while he was attending High School Equivalency classes at LCC’s Greene County Center and thought he’d be a perfect fit for the NextGen, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program at LCC.
Greene County Schools today announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with ESS, a leading education personnel and management company. As of August 14, 2023, ESS will begin managing the District’s daily and long-term substitute teachers.

The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved nine grant requests to local governments totaling $2,221,694, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The requests include commitments to create a total of 191 jobs, 22 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $49.5 million in private investment.
