UNC Health Lenoir honors community physicians annually on March 30, National Doctor’s Day. This celebration recognizes the contributions physicians make every day to the health and welfare of our community with an annual breakfast and recognition of milestones achieved through service to patients and families.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. The Greene County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin MacQueen as the new County Attorney, effective April 1, 2025. MacQueen brings nearly four decades of legal experience to this role and will provide valuable legal counsel to the county.
Christel Carlyle has received the Zora Ellis Scholarship from The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. The Honor Society for women educators promotes excellence in education and personal and professional growth of women educators. By providing graduate scholarships to members, the organization emphasizes leadership development for its more than 50,000 members in 17 countries.
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 1111 of Kinston North Carolina recently visited House of Morgan, a local artisan that creates pewter jewelry and household items. Amanda Morgan Co-Owner provided a tour of the workshop and explained the history behind pewter making within the Morgan family. Auxiliary members were able to observe the steps it takes from design to pouring the molds to casting the items to polishing the final products before packing them to be sold.
Raleigh, N.C. - The state’s seasonally adjusted January 2025 unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, unchanged from December’s revised rate. The national rate decreased 0.1 of a percentage point to 4.0 percent.
The Town of La Grange is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Seaberg as its new Assistant Town Manager. Mr. Seaberg, a highly accomplished public administrator and urban planner, will officially begin his service with the Town on March 26, 2025.
Lenoir County Public Schools is proud to announce that three of its outstanding students have been selected to attend the North Carolina Governor’s School for the summer of 2025. This esteemed program, established in 1963, is the oldest of its kind in the nation and offers a unique, enriching experience for intellectually gifted high school students.

Snow Hill – The Greene County Board of Education has voted to appoint Dr. Rodney McNeill as the next superintendent of Greene County Schools, effective July 1, 2025. This decision follows the announcement of current superintendent Dr. Creech’s retirement, shared with the board on February 24, 2025. Dr. Creech has served Greene County Schools in various leadership roles since 2014 and has led the district as superintendent since 2022.
We are not planning to hold a press conference on this event today; the incidents remain under investigation by the LCSO and the State Highway Patrol.
