One of the ways our community supports our Libraries in Lenoir County is through the Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library.

We will be offering summer reading activities for children, teens, and adults and will also host a concert from an amazing performer to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.
If you are looking for a way to stave off post-holiday boredom this coming January, Neuse Regional Libraries has the perfect opportunity for you. Our Winter Reads program will begin January 8 and includes a full schedule of activities and programming that will keep you busy until spring starts to arrive.
If you have visited the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library periodically over the past three decades, you have probably noticed many changes, including countless new technologies and even a completely renovated library.

It might surprise you to learn that, according to the national adult literacy non-profit organization ProLiteracy, 43 million Americans struggle to read, write, or do math beyond a third-grade level. Only 53% of immigrants are proficient English speakers. And according to the Department of Education, 31.8 million Americans are digitally illiterate, meaning that they do not have the comfort or competence with technology to use a computer or mobile device.
Neuse Regional Libraries are committed to building community through our Library programs and offering events and forums that reflect the diversity of our local residents. In support of these goals, we will be offering our second annual Coming Together program series and Juneteenth celebration.
The American Library Association (ALA) has announced that Neuse Regional Libraries have been selected to participate in Libraries Lead with Digital Skills.
For a Youth Services Librarian, the start of summer means one thing – the Summer Reading Program. The theme for Summer Reading 2020 is Imagine Your Story.
We at Neuse Regional Libraries understand how difficult the stay-at-home order can be, and how much everyone misses their normal activities in the community. We certainly miss seeing all of our regular library users in person. However, the Library is still providing vital services to the community in several ways, and your library card can still be used to access a wealth of knowledge and enjoyment from home.
In the past few years, the Internet has moved beyond being simply a resource for leisure activities or research to becoming an essential part of daily life. In 2020, individuals are required to use the internet to look for and apply for jobs, seek educational opportunities, access government services, and do many other essential things that were previously done offline.
The Neuse Regional Library System is committed to opening the door to opportunities for residents in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties by making informational resources and programming freely accessible to them. One of the ways we have recently done this is through the ICE HOUSE Entrepreneurship Program, a free three-week course sponsored by the NC IDEA Foundation designed to inspire and engage participants with the determination and perseverance of an entrepreneurial mindset.
While we are currently in the midst of efforts to increase awareness in the community that the Library offers much more than just books. Neuse Regional Libraries continue to make books, literature, and culture a cornerstone of our services.
Libraries are constantly evolving, and so are the services and resources they offer to patrons.
