AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 1111 Supports Veterans with Handmade Blankets

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 1111 of Kinston North Carolina recently visited House of Morgan, a local artisan that creates pewter jewelry and household items. Amanda Morgan Co-Owner provided a tour of the workshop and explained the history behind pewter making within the Morgan family.  Auxiliary members were able to observe the steps it takes from design to pouring the molds to casting the items to polishing the final products before packing them to be sold.  

Big Lots given second chance in Kinston

After a period of uncertainty and closure, Big Lots is officially reopening its Kinston location at 2407 N. Herritage St., according to store manager Leo Lockhart. The discount retailer, which closed temporarily amid the company’s financial challenges, is back in business and actively hiring.

Greene County Board of Education announces Rodney McNeill as next Superintendent

Snow Hill – The Greene County Board of Education has voted to appoint Dr. Rodney McNeill as the next superintendent of Greene County Schools, effective July 1, 2025. This decision follows the announcement of current superintendent Dr. Creech’s retirement, shared with the board on February 24, 2025. Dr. Creech has served Greene County Schools in various leadership roles since 2014 and has led the district as superintendent since 2022.
