On February 21, 2025, Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a reported theft in progress on the 300 block of Boy Scout Boulevard. While enroute, officers received a description of the suspect and their vehicle.
On February 21, 2025, KPD’s B-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W Vernon Avenue. During the stop, officers made contact with the occupants when the passenger, Omarion Lewis (22, Trenton, NC), began reaching around the vehicle before throwing a handgun onto the dashboard.
On February 21, 2025, at 02:25 AM., Kinston Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering at the 2 o'clock store located at 700 Dr MLK JR Boulevard. Surveillance footage captured video footage of the suspect. We are currently attempting to identify the subject in the photos.
Kinston Police Arrest Armed Suspect, Recover Stolen and Modified Firearm. On February 20, 2025, at approximately 9:39 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad responded to a shots fired call in the 1500 block of Stroud Avenue.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Adkin Street and observed an extended firearm magazine protruding from underneath the driver’s seat. Upon further investigation, officers located a concealed firearm inside the vehicle. A 17-year-old female passenger admitted ownership of the firearm.
On February 19, 2025, at 7:32 p.m., Kinston Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering at the Dollar General on King Street. Surveillance footage captured a black male wearing a black hoodie with “OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE” written on the back forcibly kicking through the door to gain entry, while a black female remained outside.

KPD Seeks Assistance in Identifying Suspects in Break-In at the Dollar General
A variety of cryptocurrency scams, many involving Bitcoin ATMs, have recently been reported in the Kinston area. Police urge citizens to be on their guard as scammers have succeeded in stealing thousands from citizens.
February 5, 2025 – Officers from KPD’s B-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Joyner Drive, leading to the arrest of a fugitive with multiple outstanding warrants.
Kinston Police and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspect attempting to break into a gun safe at Walmart on Feb. 2. Officers quickly arrested Anthony Wooten, 24, who now faces multiple charges.
Kinston Police arrested 30-year-old Shaquille Bryant after he allegedly exposed himself at the Dollar Tree on N. Herritage Street. Officers responded to the report on Jan. 30, 2025, and later apprehended Bryant, who is now being held without bond.
The Kinston Police Department is asking for the community’s help in finding William Marcus Gunter, 30, who is wanted in connection with multiple break-ins. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact KPD or Crime Stoppers.
January 30, 2025 – At approximately 12:30 AM, Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Jack Rountree. Upon arrival, officers made contact with four individuals in a vehicle. During the encounter, officers observed the front passenger, 19-year-old De’onta Dixon of Snow Hill, NC, reaching toward the vehicle’s floorboard.
