On March 3, 2025, officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to a theft at Napa Auto Parts on W Vernon Avenue. Security camera images were shared on the department’s Facebook page, and with the support of our community, the suspect was identified as Jason Moore, 42, of Lenoir County.
On March 9, 2025, at approximately 4:36 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly on North Herritage Street. Before officers arrived, they were informed that one of the drivers had left the scene.
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Highway 258 South after a vehicle nearly struck an officer’s patrol car.
On March 7, 2025, at approximately 12:57 a.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been reported stolen to KPD on July 17, 2024.
On September 3, 2024, Officers on D-Squad were patrolling the area of Jack Rountree Apartments. During this time, officers observed a vehicle parked with the door open. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with Charles Cox (31 of Deep Run, NC) sitting in the back seat.
On May 15th, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Officers with the Kinston Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Old Snow Hill Rd. Officers began searching the area and located the car parked in the U.S. Mini Mart parking lot, 1404 Old Snow Hill Rd. Kinston, N.C.
On Thursday, October 19th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department were able to obtain warrants for the arrest of Devonte Cantey, 23, of Kinston, for the shooting of Tabias Williams and Tamir Cobb.
On Sunday, December 25th, 2022, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Kinston Police Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Riley Rd. Kinston, N.C. in reference to an unattended death. Officers arrived on scene and located a 59 year old Kinston resident that was deceased. At this time the cause of death is unknown and it is being investigated as a suspicious death.
Kinston police department updated their request for the publics help in indentifying a suspect. The suspect has been identified and is in custody.
The Kinston Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance with helping identify the subjects pictured. These individuals were involved with passing a counterfeit bill at Walgreens located at 4003 W. Vernon Ave.

In the late evening of November 10, 2021, several vehicles were broken into by individuals who stole items from inside the vehicles.
On Tuesday, November 9, 2021 officers with the Kinston Police Department were conducting a follow up on a complaint of possible criminal activity in the area of Viking Dr. Kinston, NC.
On 10/08/2021 Officers responded to the Gifted Hands Barbershop located at 1500 W. Vernon Ave in regards to an assault. Upon arrival it was determined that three individuals came into the barbershop and assaulted a customer.
The individual in this photo was able to get away with a significant amount of money by using counterfeit checks. The incident was reported on 09-14-21 and actually occurred some months prior.
