Kinston Police arrest impaired driver with concealed firearm
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Highway 258 South after a vehicle nearly struck an officer’s patrol car.
The driver, Samuel Rombold, 25, of Lenoir County, was determined to be impaired, and officers initiated an investigation. During the stop, Rombold admitted to having an illegally concealed firearm inside the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Rombold was arrested and charged with:
Driving While Impaired (DWI)
Carrying a Concealed Firearm
Rombold was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was held without bond due to being on pretrial release for a previous DWI offense.
