Lenoir County students dominate Regional Science Fair
Lenoir County Public Schools (LCPS) students showcased their scientific prowess at the Regional Science and Engineering Fair held on Feb. 15 at East Carolina University, winning over 50% of the awards. The school board recognized the students at its March 3rd board meeting.
Superintendent M. Brent Williams highlighted the students' achievements during the meeting. "Our kids absolutely dominated that competition," Williams said. "Couldn't be happier about these young people". He noted that 24 students and 15 projects earned first, second, or third-place honors.
The following students were recognized for their achievements:
Elementary School Division:
Dylan Clements of La Grange Elementary School – Honorable Mention, 2nd place (Special Awards – North Carolina American Water Works and Water Environment Association)
Carsyn Tyndall of Moss Hill Elementary School – 3rd place
Oliver Hinkle of Moss Hill Elementary School – Honorable Mention, 3rd place (Special Awards – North Carolina American Water Works and Water Environment Association)
Alondra Rojas of Pink Hill Elementary School – Honorable Mention
Daniel Martinez-Gonzalez of Pink Hill Elementary School – Honorable Mention
Dylan Jones of Southwood Elementary School – 2nd place
Lexi Barwick and Olivia Moon of Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School – 1st place (Special Awards – North Carolina American Water Works and Water Environment Association)
