Kinston Police Department arrests suspect in armed robbery at Circle K

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 2:31 AM, officers with the Kinston Police Department (KPD) responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Circle K convenience store located on W Vernon Avenue. Upon arrival, officers began a preliminary investigation and later transferred the case to the KPD’s Investigation Division for further analysis.

Through the use of security footage, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Freddie Sanders, 50, of Kinston. Sanders voluntarily turned himself in to KPD detectives. He was subsequently placed under arrest for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods. He is currently being held at the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
