William Earl Phillips, 81, of Kinston passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025. A service of love and remembrance will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

Just as I finally started feeling human again, I walked straight into an event that reminded me why I’d rather be heard and not seen.
Chadwick Stokes, an 8th-grade history teacher at E.B. Frink Middle School, has been honored as the Social Studies Middle School Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies.
