On May 30th, 2024, at 1833 hours, KPD's Violent Crime Action Team conducted a traffic stop for a registration violation. The driver was identified as Alvin Dove (48 of Lenoir County). A probable cause search revealed suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and firearm ammunition. The items were seized and Dove was released at the scene pending further investigation.
Officers on C-Squad conducted a traffic stop with Sincere Teach (25 of Kinston). During the traffic stop officers discovered Teach was wanted for several Orders for Arrest. Teach was placed under arrest and officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.
Man charged with discharging a firearm in the city the same day he purchased the gun. KPD's B-Squad responded to a shots fired call in the area of 800 Airport Road.
Good morning, the Kinston Police Department is partnering with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, and NC Safe and hosting a Gun Safety Seminar. It will be held on May 23, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at the Kinston Community Center located at 2602 W Vernon Avenue.
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on the 500 block of N. Herritage Street.
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Officers from the Kinston Police Department located the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting from Monday night’s incident. A 16-year-old female juvenile was placed into custody for her involvement in the case
On Monday, May 13, 2024 at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of individuals that have been shot near the 300 block of S. Davis St. in Richard Green Housing Complex
KPD Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian stuck by a motor on the 1900 block of Towerhill Road. Officers arrived on scene and located the pedestrian, (50 year old male from Dover) and the driver Anthony Belcher (50 of Snow Hill)
KPD's D-Squad responded to a Vehicle B&E in the Glenwood Avenue area. During the investigation officers were able to obtain video evidence and identified the offender as Mohnee Bostic (26 of Snow Hill, NC).
The Kinston Police Department has issued a plea to the public for assistance in locating 66-year-old Gary Jones, who was last seen near the Adkin Street Apartments. Jones, described as having a height of 6'02", was wearing a red sweater, gray shirt, and dark blue jeans with a notable gold accent on the front at the time of his disappearance.
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team received information from NC License & Theft Agents related to Okeith Parker (39). Parker had active Order For Arrest related to Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.

On January 8th 2024, KPD’s Detectives received information from the Greenville Police VCAT Unit that Sherrod Jones Jr was hiding out in a residence on W Washington Ave.
Final Case Update: On Sunday, January 7, 2024, members of the Kinston Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen in reference to the whereabouts of Matthew Wyche. A short time later, officers located Wyche near the 300 block of N. Queen St. Wyche was arrested without incident and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
KPD needs the community’s help in identifying the subject in the photos. This is related to an armed robbery that just occurred. We will have more information at a later time.
