Three LCC students selected for ECU Engineering Scholarship

LCC is proud of each of these students for their accomplishments and their decision to attend LCC for Engineering. The National Science Foundation and ECU’s Department of Engineering are helping to provide Lenoir, Jones, and Greene County students with the opportunity to further their education in Engineering through these funds, which will ultimately benefit our community through developing a skilled workforce.

Former Miss Kinston-Lenoir County joins ECU Alumni Association Board

2016 Miss Kinston-Lenoir County and former Down East Wood Ducks intern Lily Faulconer is now a member of the East Carolina University Alumni Association board of directors. The ECU Alumni Association approved six new members to join its board of directors recently. The board operates to provide strategic direction, resources and professional expertise to carry out the university’s alumni engagement objectives. The elected members joined the board in July and will serve three-year terms that end in 2024.

The two brothers, transplants from Columbus Ohio, now call Kinston home, and it was their cutting-edge new business that brought them here.

Rogers returns to take helm at ECU

North Carolina native Dr. Philip Rogers has been elected the 12th chancellor of East Carolina University by the UNC Board of Governors. The appointment is a homecoming for Rogers, 37, who is senior vice president of learning and engagement for the American Council on Education. Rogers was raised in Greenville and is the great-grandson of an early student of the East Carolina Teachers Training School. His wife, Dr. Rebekah P. Rogers, is a two-time ECU alumna.

ECU selects Minges Bottling Group for exclusive pouring rights

East Carolina University officials have awarded exclusive pouring rights to Minges Bottling Group, a Pepsi-Cola company, after a competitive bid process. The contract gives Minges Bottling Group the exclusive right to sell its products on campus with a combined bid of up to $8.2 million over a period of 10 years beginning January 11, 2021. This replaces the previous contract with Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated which had been in place since 2011.

New ECU poll shows Biden lead in NC, tight races statewide

A poll conducted Oct. 15-18 by the ECU Center for Survey Research shows a three-point lead (50% to 47%) for Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Donald Trump among likely voters in North Carolina. The Senate race between Democrat Cal Cunningham and Republican Thom Tillis remains a tossup with Cunningham holding a 48-47% lead, while Democrat Roy Cooper leads Republican challenger Dan Forest, 53% to 44%.
