Cornhole Tournament at Grainger Stadium

The Wood Ducks announced that they will be hosting the Cornhole Classic on Saturday, September 17th at Grainger Stadium, sponsored by Brooks Poole, Realtor. Gates open at 10 am with the event starting at 11 am. It is a “rounder format” with American Cornhole League Rules. After pool play teams will be broken up into three brackets with cash prizes for the top three teams in each bracket!

Kentucky Derby horse, Barber Road, has ties to Lenoir County

Former Lenoir County resident Tammy Simon joined the Bryan Hanks show to talk about Barber Road’s journey to the Kentucky Derby. The horse is named after a road in Lenoir County. Simon grew up on a farm in Seven Springs and graduated from North Lenoir High School. She met her husband, former Walmart CEO William ‘Bill’ Simon in Charleston, South Carolina, when he was in the Navy and she was a nurse.
