Rep. Chris Humphrey seeks re-election in 2024, highlighting economic and infrastructure focus

North Carolina State Representative Chris Humphrey is seeking re-election in 2024, running as an incumbent to retain his seat in the House. A lifelong Lenoir County resident, Humphrey has spent decades in public service and business, first as a town council member in La Grange, and later as a Lenoir County commissioner. Humphrey is now aiming to continue his tenure in the General Assembly.

Mike Parker: School buses will be rolling soon: Please be alert and obey the law

On May 6 of this year, I heard a report of a school bus crash in Johnston County. My concern was immediate and poignant. Two of my grandchildren attend school in Johnston County. Although I was relieved to learn the crash did not involved with of my grandkids, I was still sadden to learn that eight children were injured when the driver ran off the road for a split second and then lost control of the bus.

CMS approves North Carolina’s Medical Debt Relief Incentive Program

Millions of low- and middle- income North Carolinians are one step closer to medical debt relief. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved on Friday, July 26 Governor Roy Cooper and the NC Department of Health and Human Services’ plan to use the state's Medicaid program to incentivize hospitals to relieve more than a decade of existing medical debt for eligible North Carolinians and prevent accumulation of new debt going forward.

NCDOT: Smishing Scam Alert

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Turnpike Authority was alerted that a text message-based scam, also known as smishing, is fraudulently claiming to represent tolling agencies from across the country. The scammers are claiming to represent the tolling agency and requesting payment for unpaid tolls.
