TRENTON — The Jones County K-12 school's ownership was officially transferred from the developer, First Floor, to the Jones County government in a ceremony on Monday, February 3, 2025. The event marked the culmination of a public-private partnership that resulted in the construction of a state-of-the-art, energy-positive school facility.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. More than 16,000 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2024 term. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Three students from local counties have been named finalists for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship, a four-year, fully funded merit-based scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The students will advance to the final selection round, which takes place in Chapel Hill this March.
Two Lenoir County Public School students were selected to represent North Carolina in the national Presidential Scholars Program.
CULLOWHEE, NC -- Western Carolina University congratulates more than 2,000 students named to the Chancellor's List for Fall 2024. To qualify for this honor, students must achieve a GPA of 3.8 or higher while completing 12 or more credit hours. Students named to the Chancellor's list are also named to the Dean's List.

Schools in Lenoir County, along with other districts across the state and around the world, have been impacted by a data breach affecting PowerSchool, a student information system used by schools. The breach occurred on Dec. 19, 2024, when the credentials of a PowerSchool contract employee were compromised, allowing unauthorized access to student and teacher data.
