The Kinston Police Department posted the following on their Facebook page: Help us get justice for Nell. Governor Roy Cooper is offering a reward of up to $25,000 in the attack of Nell Pittman.
Almost 50 people have been arrested over the past few days and weeks as part of “Operation Summer Jump” by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.
KPD's A-Squad responded to a motor vehicle crash with injury at W Vernon Avenue and Hardee Road. The investigation revealed Deborah Smith (33 of Goldsboro) was impaired. Smith was arrested and placed in the LC Jail.
KPD Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit that started in the city of Kinston and went to Greene County. It involved members of the Kinston Police Department, Lenoir County Sheriffs Office, Greene County Sheriffs Office, Snow Hill Police Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
In December of 2022, KPD's Violent Crime Action Team began a drug investigation related to the distribution of crack cocaine by Rodney Meadows (37 of Kinston). The investigation led to Meadows being charged with 34 felonies. On June 14, 2024 Meadows pled guilty in Lenoir County Superior court and received 11-18 years in prison.
A 20-year-old Hertford man was arrested earlier this week after a felony larceny of a truck and trailer from a Pink Hill farm resulted in a chase and a crash in Richlands.
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team received numerous tips from our community members related to drug activity on the 700 block of Candlewood Drive
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team concluded a drug investigation involving Reymond Cobb (46 of Kinston). Detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence on the 300 block of S McDaniel Street related to the distribution of cocaine and MDMA
KPD's B-Squad responded to the 400 block of East Gordon Street for a report of a vehicle crash involving a dirt bike and a ATV. Officer arrived on scene and the investigation revealed that both the dirt bike and the ATV were being driven recklessly on the roadway.
KPD's C-Squad observed several ATV's riding in the park at Georgia K Battle. The drivers fled the area once they observed they officers. Officers attempted to pursue the ATV's before terminating the pursuit. Officers conducted an area search and located one of the ATV's and the driver hiding in some bushes.
KPD's C-Squad responded to a residence on Waverly Avenue for a report of shots fired within a residence. Officers arrived on scene and their investigation revealed that convicted felon - Sean Croom (50 of Kinston) accused his uncle of stealing his firearm.
Joseph Allen Wade, 27, was arrested today following a months-long investigation by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office detectives. They were notified of a report of sexual allegations from the Onslow County Department of Social Services on March 8 involving a juvenile victim that occurred in Lenoir County. The reported incident occurred during May 2021 and August 2022.
Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team observed Perry Jones (47 of Kinston) on Macon St. Detectives were aware that Jones had warrants related to a previous incident involving narcotic violations. Detectives approached Jones and he attempted to walk away.
On May 30th, 2024, at 1833 hours, KPD's Violent Crime Action Team conducted a traffic stop for a registration violation. The driver was identified as Alvin Dove (48 of Lenoir County). A probable cause search revealed suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and firearm ammunition. The items were seized and Dove was released at the scene pending further investigation.
