US Attorney: Thirteen Kinston residents sentenced to federal prison for drug and gun sales

According to a press release from United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr., he announced that in federal court, before Chief United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle, twelve men and one woman were sentenced for their roles in selling heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and guns to undercover agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (“ATF”) in 2018.

UPDATE: Missing person located

Original story: On November 30, 2019, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office was notified of a missing person who was last seen at approximately 11:00 a.m. on that same date. Yazmin Concepcion Villanueva-Guzman, was last seen at her home in Pink Hill, NC.

Kinston Police: Suspect charged in morning assault

On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 around 9:04 a.m., Kinston Police Officers responded to the area of E. Bright St and S. McDaniels St. Kinston, NC to an assault in progress. Once on scene officers located Thomas Lewis, age 52 of Kinston, NC who had been assaulted with a baseball bat. Mr. Lewis was transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment and has since been released.
