Alien Fizz is a small, family-owned shop bringing smiles and old-fashioned service with their out-of-this-world craft sodas, sweets, and novelties. The shop is owned and operated by Harry and Sarah Mahler, who originally operated a soda store called Soda Depot in Pennsylvania.
On Wednesday, the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Creed Competition took place in Indianapolis, Indiana. The competition is based on writings of E.M. Tiffany (who wrote the FFA creed). The competition judges the participants on learning expectations, poised confidence, memorizing the creed, public speaking, and their answers to questions about agriculture asked by judges. The winners were announced and awarded on Thursday at the Indianapolis Colts Football Stadium and Rachel Noble from South Lenoir won first place out of 85,000 participants from around the country.
On Tuesday around 12:30pm, Emergency Services, the Kinston Police Department and Kinston Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of E New Bern Road and Meadowbrook Dr.
Representative Chris Humphrey and Senator Jim Perry spoke to students at Lenoir County Early College High School on Monday. The presentation started with Humphrey and Perry introducing themselves, and then the students were given an opportunity to ask questions of their state leaders.
On September 29, 2022, volunteers from Hope Restoration, the Red Cross, the Kinston Fire Department, City of Kinston, Kinston Police Department, Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation and Wells Fargo came together for Project Welcome Home.
On September 24, 2022, The Lenoir County SPCA collaborated with PetSense in Kinston to host an Adoptathon Event. The event is used to bring community together for a common goal to support the dogs and cats looking for furr-ever homes. PetSense is a local chain pet supply store that is at 4130 W Vernon Ave in Kinston, which is sponsored by Tractor Supply.
The ABC board presented checks to Lenoir County, Boys and Girls Club, Lenoir Community College, Lenoir County Recovery Courts, City of Kinston and Town of Pink Hill.
On August 9, 2022, during a short ceremony at the Kinston Community Center, Females in Action (FiA) donated $1,600 to the Lenoir County Special Olympics. Lisa Sylvia, on behalf of FiA, presented the check to Lynetta Powell with Kinston-Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Department and Ivey Price with Lenoir County Public Schools.
