La Grange-Annette Lancaster Gray, 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. A service of love and remembrance will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at White Oak Grove OFWB Church. Committal will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange. The family will receive friends following the committal.
Arendall Blake “Ren” Bryan, 82, passed away on April 23, 2023 at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston, North Carolina. A service of love and remembrance will be held by the graveside on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends after the service.
Virginia Lynn Croom Baker, 81, of Kinston, was called to her heavenly home and reunited with her daughter on Friday, April 21, 2023. A service of love and remembrance will be held on Tuesday April 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange with Pastor Ronnie Hobgood officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.
Mary Jane Jones Tilghman “Cookie”, 76, finished her course and was received into the presence of her Lord on Friday, April 14, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. A service of love and remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange with Pastor Chris Truett officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service. A private committal will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.
Bradley Sutton Elmore, 54, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday afternoon, April 12, 2023. A service to celebrate and honor Brad’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Kinston with Pastor Justin Barnett officiating. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Grange. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, as well as other times at the home.
Marie Ewell Spears passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at ECU Medical Center at the age of 97. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, 2 pm at Westview Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
Betsy A. Barbee passed away at home on March 20, 2023. Her First Presbyterian Church family was very important to her and a memorial service will be held at the church on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation to follow. At other times the family will be at the home of Morry and Leigh.

Our beloved, William “Bill” Percy Prentice, age 80, of Seven Springs, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly, but quietly, in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Visitation will be held at Rouse Funeral Home in La Grange, North Carolina, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4 to 6PM. The interment of ashes will be placed next to his beloved wife, DeDe at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York.
