Reece Gardner: I appreciate you

Well, we are into another July 4th Week and it might be an ideal time to let our families and friends know that we appreciate them. As I have said before, I am convinced that three of the most important words in the English language are "I appreciate you."

Reece Gardner: Let's talk about age

Let's talk about Age. I wrote about Emma Morano a few years ago and the example she set for getting the most out of the years we are given on Earth. She had a positive attitude toward life, had devoted friends, and loved her pets. She died on April 15, 2017, at age 117. Until she was 115 she didn't have any live-in caregivers.

Reece Gardner: Help somebody today

Have you ever felt alone, even in a crowd? That is probably one of the most painful times to feel alone, when people all around us are busily involved with each other. Perhaps it might be a good idea to look around us for those who feel alone, and reach out to them.

Reece Gardner: Happy Father's Day!

Some things bear repeating, or at least expanding on, and that's what I am doing today. We recently celebrated Mother's Day, and now Father's Day is coming up on June 19. I want to look at this Day both from the perspective of a son as well of a dad.

Reece Gardner: Come on in, the coast is clear

It has amused me over the years to see signs prominently posted on building entrances reading, "This is a Gun Free Zone," or "No weapons of any kind allowed on these premises." You may recall the "No Gun Zone" sign prominently posted a few years ago at the entrance to a school in Lakeland, Florida, which made it a clear target for a young man with a demented mind hearing Satan telling him to kill people.

Reece Gardner: Miracle on Highway 109

The horrific race car accident that recently occurred in which the driver's car crashed into a wall, exploded, and engulfed the car in flames, and from which there seemed no chance for survival, showed that Miracles still do happen as the driver emerged from this laming inferno largely unharmed.

Reece Gardner: Putting things in proper perspective

I want to revisit information I shared with you in a Column four years ago about ways we might keep worry and fear from taking control of our lives. In my many years as a Dale Carnegie instructor, I have heard countless examples of this from. people who have gotten "wrapped up" in worry and anxiety but were able to break free by putting things in proper perspective.

Reece Gardner: Live each day to the fullest

The violence occurring in various parts of our country, particularly in places like Chicago, New York, San Francisco and other locations, with horrific frequency, remind us of how important it is to live each day to the fullest, and to be aware of how precious the gift of life on this earth is and how it could suddenly and unexpectedly come to an end. In any event, our life here is very brief and we are constantly aware of how fast time flies.
