Jones County Board of Commissioners addresses infrastructure, public safety, and community programs
The Jones County Board of Commissioners met Monday to approve significant financial commitments for county projects, including the construction of a new shell building in the industrial park and major upgrades to emergency services facilities. The meeting also saw extensive discussion on long-standing infrastructure concerns and a contentious debate over a change order for an EMS station.
Traffic stop leads to discovery of marijuana grow in Jones County
At approximately 12:00 a.m., while JCSO Deputies were conducting a checking station, they noticed a vehicle attempting to evade the checking station. Deputies responded to investigate and located the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, narcotics were found in plain view inside the vehicle. The driver fled on foot, prompting a search of the area with the assistance of K-9 units from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office. Despite efforts, Deputies were unable to locate the suspect.

Jones County Commissioners approve FY2026 Budget, move to rebid lawn care contract
Trenton — The Jones County Board of Commissioners approved the fiscal year 2026 budget and agreed to rebid the county’s lawn care contract following public concerns over transparency and bid specifications during a regularly scheduled meeting Monday night.

An employee in this class is responsible for organizing and directing the activities of the senior center, including planning programs, developing resources, and supervising staff. Duties include managing the daily operations of multiple senior center locations, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines, and actively engaging with the community to enhance service delivery.

Trillium Welcomes New Governing Board
On July 7, 2024, changes to North Carolina law necessitated adjustments to Trillium’s Governing Board. On July 19, 2024, in compliance with the new law, Trillium submitted a new proposed alternate board structure to NCDHHS Secretary Kody Kinsley for approval.
Duplin farmer re-elected to serve Jones and Lenoir regions
AgCarolina Farm Credit recently completed the 2024 Director and Nominating Committee election. An independent third party tabulated the ballots, and the results have been certified and provided to the Association. We appreciate the participation of AgCarolina voting stockholders to help strengthen our cooperative. Each of the elected directors will serve a four-year term beginning January 1, 2025.
