A dedication ceremony was held at the corner of W. North and Mitchell Streets. Adopted from the city, a once-vacant lot bloomed with a memorial garden, honoring the late Ms. Shirley Herring's dedication to beautifying downtown. This three-year endeavor was funded by donations.
Downtown Kinston will come alive this July 4th with an evening full of music and fireworks, as Downtown Kinston Revitalization hosts its annual concert at Pearson Park. The event, sponsored by local businesses including Bojangles, Walter Poole Realty, Kinston Realty Group, and Neuse News, is set to run from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, culminating in a vibrant fireworks display.
The Downtown Kinston Revitalization (DKR), once known as Pride of Kinston, faces significant challenges as it grapples with a series of board member resignations and criticisms of its leadership. DKR has been tasked with rejuvenating Kinston’s downtown area since 1984.
After many months of discussion and consultation the Board of Directors of Pride of Kinston, dba Downtown Kinston Revitalization (DK), a 501c3 non-profit organization, has made the decision to list its ~26,000 sf Kinston Enterprise Center (KEC) for sale. The sale will be facilitated by Jess Edwards of Kinston Realty Group.

Breadwine and Blooze, the band who performed during last year’s July 4th weekend fireworks display, will be returning to Kinston for an evening filled with food, vendors, and music.
