UPDATE: Missing autistic 16-year-old's body recovered
2:20PM Update:
At approximately 1:33 PM, divers from the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office located the body of Jaylen Green. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve and begin the healing process.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the agencies who assisted in the search and recovery efforts. Your support and dedication are deeply appreciated.
Chief Keith Goyette shared the following statement: “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Jaylen Green. On behalf of the entire department, I want to express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the search and ask the community to continue offering their support to the family during this incredibly difficult time.”

The Kinston Police Department continues its efforts in the search for Jaylen Green. Throughout the night and into today, KPD has partnered with multiple agencies to conduct extensive search and rescue operations. During the course of these efforts, teams have identified points of interest within the Neuse River.
As the investigation progresses, the mission has shifted from a rescue operation to a recovery effort.

As of 6:28 am on Sunday, 7/20, Jaylen Green’s search continues. Kinston Police and other law enforcement personnel have maintained a presence in the area all evening to no avail.
ORIGINAL POST on Saturday, 7/19 at 6:28pm:
KPD is actively searching for 16-year-old Jaylen Green, who is autistic. Jaylen walked away from the Nature Center and has been missing for approximately 30 minutes.
If anyone sees him, please call 911 immediately.
We have drones in the area, and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is en route to assist with a bloodhound.
