Construction begins on new SECU branch in Kinston

Construction is officially underway on a new State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) branch on Hill Farm Road, just off U.S. 70 near Walmart.

“Yes, it is the new SECU building,” said Lara Lang-Tribula, SECU Senior Vice President in Kinston. “We began construction earlier this month and hope to be complete by June 2026.”

SECU first purchased the property in 2020, as reported by Neuse News. At the time, Lang-Tribula confirmed the purchase of land near Hill Farm Road.

“It is a branch relocation for Vernon Avenue,” said Lang-Tribula.

SECU is the largest credit union in North Carolina and the second largest in the United States, with more than $42 billion in assets and over 2.4 million members. The member-owned financial cooperative has served North Carolina state employees and their families since its founding in 1937, offering services including savings, loans, and financial planning.
