The stage was set for an evening of elegance, resilience, and celebration as the first-ever Ms. Coming Up In Age Pageant took place on Saturday, March 8, at the Kinston High School Performing Arts Center. Hosted by Sharonda Shanice Events, the pageant was held in support of Greene Lamp Community Action’s Foster Grandparent Program, an initiative dedicated to enriching the lives of both senior volunteers and the children they mentor.
With eight remarkable women over the age of 50 competing, the event showcased not only beauty but also wisdom, confidence, and the power of experience. Contestants took center stage, demonstrating grace and poise in a spirited competition that left the audience inspired.
At the end of a night filled with heartfelt moments and dazzling performances, Ms. Rosa Chapman of Kinston was crowned Ms. Coming Up In Age, earning the distinguished title. Mrs. Mary Kittrell, also from Kinston, was named 1st Runner Up, while Ms. Jenise Stewart of Charlotte claimed the 2nd Runner Up spot.
Beyond the competition, the pageant served as a testament to the importance of community engagement and programs like Greene Lamp’s Foster Grandparent Program, which fosters intergenerational connections and provides invaluable support to both seniors and youth.
Congratulations to all the participants for their dedication and courage in stepping onto the stage, proving that confidence and elegance know no age limits. Their inspiring performances made this inaugural event a true success.
