Former Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith injured in tractor accident, undergoes surgery

The Scuffleton Rural Fire Association has requested community prayers following a serious accident involving former Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith, who was struck by a vehicle while on his tractor. According to their Facebook post, Smith sustained multiple injuries, including broken ribs, a broken left hip, and a possible back fracture. He is currently at ECU Health where he underwent surgery.

Sheriff Smith is a respected figure in Greene County and former fire chief for the Scuffleton department. The Fire Association encourages the community to join in prayers for Smith's recovery. Updates will be shared as they become available.
