NWS: Threat for potential severe weather continues
We are still monitoring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms to push across Eastern NC this evening ahead of a strong cold front. The primary threat from the storms will be damaging wind gusts, isolated tornadoes, and heavy downpours. The most favorable environment for severe storms remains along the eastern coastal areas, though all of Eastern NC remains in a slight risk for severe. Strong gradient winds will also be present this afternoon and evening ahead of the front.
A Wind Advisory continues for Downeast Carteret through Oregon Inlet for winds gusting up to 45-50 mph. Gale Warnings continue south of Oregon Inlet including Pamlico Sound.
