LENOIR COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Starting annual salary range: $29,785 - $36,290

PARAMEDIC - $19.39 per hr ADVANCED - $17.56 per hr

BASIC - $15.91 per hr

Performs professional advanced life support work in operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and performing advanced emergency care including the administration of life sustaining treatment to patients on-site and while en route to the hospital.

Work involves responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment o sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to a medical facility. Employee serves as a member of an ambulance crew. This employee is responsible for all medical care of the patient. Work may expose the employee to human blood or body fluids and thus the job is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens.

Minimum requirements:

Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in advanced emergency medical service work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; Credentialed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Medical Care Commission as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic; completion of specialty courses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, International Trauma Life Support, and Basic Life Support; completion of ICS 700, 800, 100, 200, and 300; and possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
