Jun 6 Seniors Turn Tassels at Parrott Graduation

Ending a June 3rd commencement ceremony, 49 Parrott Academy seniors turned their tassels and marched out of Ellis Simon Gym as graduates. Head of School David Moody saluted the Class of 2022 for their “spirit, enthusiasm, and talent.” He noted their honors in fine arts, six state athletic championships over four years of high school, and over 2,700 hours of community service in their senior year.

Before graduation awards were presented Seniors Elia Movahed, Anna Haddad, and Landon Kearney delivered speeches reflecting on their high school experiences.

Stewart Hardee of Greenville was named Class Valedictorian, with Sofia Brantley of Goldsboro named Salutatorian. Several Lenoir County students won awards at graduation and at a senior banquet held on June 2nd: Morgan McPhaul won the Poole Community Service Award and the Collier-Hodges Senior Athlete of the Year. Noah Miller won the Carolyn Bright Humanitarian Award, The Shelia Stroud Fine Arts Award, and Academic All-Conference honors. Claire Perry won the Jane Moore Stubbs Award. Dev Singh received the Jones-Wooten Teaching Award and the Rasberry Math Cup, and Elliana Sylvia received Academic All-Conference Honors.
