Letter to the editor: Vote Jonathan Britt, Lenoir County Board of Education

Dear voter,  

As a retired educator and former Chairperson of the Lenoir County Board of Education  and retired physician of Obstetrics and Gynecology who both care deeply about our  community and Lenoir County Public Schools (LCPS), it is with great hope and a clear  vision for the future of our schools that we are asking you to vote for Jonathan Britt for  Lenoir County Board of Education - District 5.  

Our students, families, and educators are looking for leaders to unite us around a  shared vision of high-performing schools for every LCPS student. As our schools are  working to recover from the learning losses and health consequences of extended  school closures during the pandemic, as well as staff hiring and retention, it is critical  that our board includes members who will carefully consider the coming decisions  necessary to address those problems.  

We are endorsing Jonathan because we believe he will bring valuable professional  experience to the board and as a parent of students currently in the LCPS system, the  impacts of his decisions will be thoughtfully considered. His work over the last several  years as a parent activist has demonstrated his commitment to addressing the current  challenges faced by students, parents, teachers, and the LCPS administration. His  support for parent involvement in the education and health decisions impacting their  children is a critical element of building a successful school system.  

Please join us in endorsing and voting for Jonathan because our students deserve a  school board that will be a champion for our public schools and students.
