On 08/16/2024 at 3:20am SHPD was dispatched to the Speedway located at 1102 Kingold Blvd. to investigate a reported armed robbery. SHPD arrived on scene at 3:21am. Deputies with Greene County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist. The clerk reported that a black male wearing a black hoodie and a mask entered the store and demanded "$100's". The suspect then took the register's cash drawer and left on foot. Lenoir County Sheriff's Office was called to assist with a K9 track that led officers northwest to the area of Gregory Ave. where the K9 ended the track. During the track, the register drawer was recovered along with a black toy gun. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
