Director of Small Business Center

General Function

The Director of the Small Business Center will plan, develop, implement, and manage strategies for the Small Business Center located at the Lenoir Community College (AAMC) Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing Center.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in entrepreneurship, business administration, accounting, finance or related field; master's degree preferred

· A minimum of three years of successful business experience in management or ownership capacity

· Two years of experience in developing and implementing training programs in educational or other organizations

· Experience with grant implementation, reporting, and close out

· Proven record of successful business and industry relationships

Working Conditions

· Typical office environment

· Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking

· Lifting and carrying 15-20 pounds

· Nights and/or weekend hours as assigned

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Director of the Small Business Center include, but are not limited to:

· Develop, deliver, and administer the College's Small Business Center (SBC) course offerings in Lenoir Community College's service areas

· Design a comprehensive marketing plan for program promotion, provide documentation of program successes, hire presenters and instructors, conduct class visits, and work closely with community partners and organizations

· Collaborate with instructors and support staff to deliver quality instruction, seminars, and professional engagements

· Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of goals and objectives, policies and procedures, new courses, and in all supportive activities of the College

· Monitor courses and instructors, and ensure that courses meet high quality standards and policy

· Coordinate the recruitment of instructors as needed, monitor and prepare course outlines, and maintain up-to-date information on instructional materials and techniques

· Develop and implement comprehensive plans, including timelines, goals, objectives and benchmarks for continuing education

· Assist in the recruitment and retention efforts for the SBC classes and corporate and continuing education classes including outreach within the community and industrial locations

· Counsel SBC students on potential placements in initial contact; follow-up with subsequent course placement of value for students

· Counsel students on continuing education programs and services

· Ensure SBC programs are in full compliance with the requirements for accreditation, certification, and other standards as stipulated by NCCCS and SBCN

· Recommend departmental needs for personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, and other resources to the Associate Dean of Business Development and Partnerships

· Coordinate the requisition of resources and services, including equipment, supplies, facilities and other materials required for the effective delivery of instruction

· Manage the SBC budget, regularly monitoring the status of expenditures and implementing inventory control methods

· Ensure the confidentiality of educational records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

· Responsible for divisional compliance with standards and procedures

· Maintain a community involvement to enhance the College's networking in the tri-county service area

· Research and develop plans for new course offerings to be presented to the Associate Dean of Business Development and Partnerships

· Ensure continuous revenue growth needed to meet long-and short-term goals by identifying new opportunities and serving current clients
