First annual May “Spring in Bloom” Fest
First annual MAY “Spring in Bloom” Fest of Maysville, NC was held on May 18, 2024 on the grounds of the Maysville Methodist Church across from Frost Park. The forecast was showing severe thunderstorms with heavy rain for most of the day that may have deterred many participants; however, there were several willing to take the chance and show up in support fellow vendors and their Host: White Oak Jones-Onslow Community Basin Initiatives, Non-Profit 501c3. The weather turned out warm, sunny, a few light sprinkles and everyone was elated in their decision to move forward. We may have been smaller than projected; however, we had a great time, and we look forward to the opportunity to increase participation to fulfill planned events and contests each year.
The host’s mission is to support the people of the 28555 Maysville Mailing District of Jones and Onslow Counties, and all others near and far by sharing vendor space to showcase everyone’s visions. Profits or donations are recycled back into projects and events for the people of the 28555 Mailing District. The attending vendors gave their warm support showing up and participating in the festivities. It’s an awesome event and the best season for the community to gather, see old friends while reminiscing of the past, finding new friends and neighbors sharing common interests, seeking careers and goals, finding out what’s in the present and learning of changes and new happenings within their growing community.
The May “Spring in Bloom” Fest is during the best season for new growth in flowers, newborn animals. birds singing, natures beauty begins to flourish, fresh air, and so are new beginnings for the community, businesses, organizations, Churches, charity’s, outdoor sports, and an assortment of outreach programs just bursting to be showcased to all that is interested after a long winter.
May was the month selected for the May “Spring in Bloom” Fest for it’s the season for people to leave their homes and explore. Also, Maysville’s calendar is not usually busy with events; however, there seemed to have been unexpected overlapping this year. We hope that in the future, the support of the town’s leadership will be more available during this community event that will help open the door as to what to look forward to in the upcoming months through the end of the year in Maysville. The future is in the hands of the people. When everyone participates in some way that helps build this event for the people to flourish in any endeavors which strengthens not only the individual’s purpose but also the community.
Our appreciation goes out to the Maysville Methodist Church for the use of their property and participation, Vendors: Memorial Baptist Church of Maysville, NC Forest Service, Jones County Farm Bureau, Maysville Rotary, LegalShield, Natural Products Homemade by Becky Hansley, White Oak Jones-Onslow Community Basin Initiatives Chair Members and their families and friends, Boy Scouts Troop 87 and Scout Leader Kevin Hackler, Volunteers: Scouts and Victor Foster, our Youth Contestants Contest Participants and their families, and all the people interested that turned it all around after the weather turned out beautiful and came out to support us all. Let us work on putting everything out next year and really showcasing our community.
For those that did not make it to the event you really missed out. The Boy Scouts Troop 87 and Scout Leader Kevin Hackler performed a Flag Retirement Ceremony.
