Kinston- Georgia Murphy Mercer passed away Monday, September 18, 2023.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2pm at Westview Cemetery.

Georgia was born to Ezra and Nora Wiley Murphy. She attended school in Lenoir County and graduated from Pink Hill High School. She went on to obtain her Associate Degree from Hardbarger Business College. Georgia worked as a professional accountant/bookkeeper for Kinston Wholesale and continued her employment there when the company sold out to Coastal Wholesale. Her career lasted for 55 plus years before retiring. Georgia loved to travel but what she loved most was taking care of her family. She also enjoyed being able to use her love of cooking to care for family and friends. Georgia was a kind-hearted lady with the sweetest disposition, and she will be remembered mostly by what she did best which was the way she loved her family.

Georgia is survived by her loving husband, Charlie; devoted children, Michael (Christine); cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Zachary) and Daniel (Holly); treasured great-grandchildren, Jackson, Audrey, Noah, Emmaline, and Penelope.

In addition to her parents, Georgia is preceded in death by her brother and sister.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5975 Hwy 70 East, LaGrange, NC.
