New bar, The Mullet, set to open downtown: Business in the front, party in the back
Local entrepreneur, Travis Stanley Harper, is excited to unveil The Mullet bar, a new establishment set to open on Herritage Street in Kinston. The unique bar, featuring a wine shop and gift store at the front and a lively dance floor in the back, is a testament to Harper's innovative spirit and dedication to the community.
“This will be the number one, greatest bar in North Carolina, a little elegant and a little exotic,” said Harper.
Harper has plans to open the Mullet Bar in early June, offering an elevated, exotic, and elegant experience for guests. The bar, decorated with custom hand-painted Mexican clay tiles and a mosaic bar, was created in collaboration with Amanda James, a talented artist from New Bern. Harper also owns Stanely Saloon, which has received rave reviews for its exceptional mixed cocktails. After the saloon, he opened Harp & Dills with Dillon Lee, who is the co-owner and chef of the popular restaurant.
“He has definitely brought a little bit of the Wild West energy to Kinston with the saloon and got rolling here 100%,” said Lee of Harper.
The Mullet Bar will be open during the day, providing customers with a wine shop, gift store, and opportunities to purchase merchandise from Harper's other businesses. Local vendors will also have a chance to showcase their products. At night, the venue will transform into a vibrant party spot.
“Anybody out there who's thinking about doing anything like this,” said Lee, “just don't box yourself in because you have to be able to just go with it and grab it by the horn.”
Harper expresses his gratitude to the community and his team for their unwavering support. With the Mullet Bar, he hopes to give Kinston the greatest bar in North Carolina and continue to contribute to the growth and development of the local community.
“We’re going to party like it’s 1969,” said Harper.
