The Gate of Lenoir County is hosting a free concert with gospel rap artist Capello on July 23, 2022. Family activities at Pearson Park begin at 3:00 pm with the concert starts at 6:00 pm. The Gate is a faith-based community center that empowers youth to take ownership of their decisions.

Mike Fields, Executive Director of The Gate, said, “I’m happy to bring Mr. Capello to the Kinston area for our youth to experience gospel rap and hear his testimony.”

North Carolina native Capello is an artist, producer, and minister with a desire to spread his love through music. The musician is both a husband and a father who feels that his family is as important to his ministry as he is.

Capello is excited about partnering with The Gate. “I’m always open to opportunities to share my gift with people. I feel like partnering with certain organizations makes that a lot easier.”

By modeling the attitude and actions of Christ, The Gate believes it is creating a safe haven of love, belonging, and accountability so youth can escape the pull of the streets.

“Be bold, don’t be afraid to take risks to go after what God wants you to because you’ll reap the biggest rewards,” said Capello. “Try to eliminate as many distractions as possible and I think you’ll live a life that is rewarded in all areas.”

Capello is working on a new song called “Love Judas” that reminds the listener that it is easy to love Jesus, but a challenge to love Judas. His debut project, “The underGOD EP” is a seven track album that he believes serves as a rallying and radical cry for believers to live by faith in God rather than what the world offers.

The Gate of Lenoir County, at 201 E Gordon Street in Kinston, invites the public to the free concert at Pearson Park, and encourages them to bring their family and their lawn chairs.
