Parrott Academy’s high school and middle school art programs both won first place in the NC Association of Scholastic Activities eastern regional art showcase held in mid-January. Seven high school students competed against nine other schools in the region, while eight middle school students competed against twelve other schools. The two teams now move on to compete in the state final at Cox Hill High School in early February.
High school team members are Jordan Riggs, Anna Haddad, Helen Remington, Anna Avila, Landon Kearney, Nastia Hnatov, and Sophia Brantley. Middle school team members are Sophia Akhter, Rebecca Bailey, Will Mullen, Quinn Miller, Jalynn Baysden, Tien Le, Miles Hulka, and Samuel Hearon-Isler. Each student on the “art teams” produced an original work responding to a prompt. Team results were based on the top five scores from each school.
APA art teachers Jana Miller and Samantha Rouse noted how well their students handled the prompts and the varied mediums they used for their pieces.
