2nd annual Paws in the Park is Saturday

Easter egg hunts aren’t just for kids this weekend. An event in Kinston will give four-legged members of the family a chance to get in on the Easter fun.

The Second Annual Paws in the Park event takes place from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday at the Rotary Dog Park on N.C. 11 South in Kinston. The event is sponsored by the Rotaract of Lenoir County club; proceeds will benefit the Lenoir County SPCA and the construction of its new facility.

Dusk Stroud, an organizer for the event, said the highlight will be the Easter egg hunt. Dogs of all sizes and their owners will get to participate in the fun, sniffing out eggs containing doggie treats and other small prizes. Stroud said there will be enough eggs for everyone to get at least one.

There will also be a spirit award contest. Stroud said the contest will take into account costumes and holiday spirit, but will also look for “the dog that’s having the most fun out there.”

Local dog-related vendors, events sponsors, and vets will be on hand to provide information and shopping, and Chick-fil-A will provide breakfast, with one biscuit included with registration.

Registration is available at the event, and is $15 per dog.
