TRENTON — Last week, members of the Jones County Community Foundation (JCCF) awarded $30,000 in recovery grants funds from the North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund to support the long-term recovery of Jones County from Hurricane Florence.

In making the presentation, JCCF Chairman Charley Jones stated, "our community has many unmet needs county-wide and these three organizations can help reach out across the county and get assistance to those who truly need a hand in these trying times."

Three nonprofit organizations each were awarded $10,000 to help the county recover: the Jones County Community Development Corporation (JCCDC), The Filling Station (FS) and Jones County Recovery, Improve, Support and Empower (RISE).

JCCDC has been serving the community since 2006 and operates out of its community center at 2101 Hwy 58 South, Trenton. Learn more about the JCCDC at http://www.jonescountycdc.com/.

FS is located at 221 Main Street, Pollocksville, and has been meeting community needs since 2016. For more information, visit https://fillingstation1075.com/.

RISE formed in the wake of Hurricane Florence. It is a volunteer organization focusing on long-term recovery by organizing and coordinating resources from among public, private, inter-faith, and voluntary agencies.  You can learn more by visiting https://www.facebook.com/JOCORISE/.
