Arendell Parrott defeats Harrells Christian

HARRELLS — APA was able to break out of a four-game skid with a 3-1 victory over Harrells Christian Thursday.

Harris Barker had two goals and Caleb Allen added a goal and assist for the Patriots (4-8), with Josh Okonkwo and George Dismukes providing one assist each. John Grice also had three saves for Arendell Parrott, who face Cape Fear Academy on the road Tuesday.

Arendell Parrott starts season 10-0

HARRELLS | Arendell Parrott isn’t slowing down any time soon.

The Patriots picked up their eighth consecutive straight-sets victory with a 25-11, 25-3, 25-15 win over Harrells Christian Thursday. Alli Grant Avery had 12 kills for APA (10-0) with Mackenzie Pope adding 10 assists and Gisell Cervantes providing eight digs. Collectively, the Patriots recorded 23 service aces.

APA will face Cape Fear Academy on the road.

 

Ayden-Grifton continues torrid pace

AYDEN — Ayden-Grifton picked up its ninth consecutive victory and eighth in straight sets with a 25-5, 25-16, 25-18 win over Washington Thursday.

The Chargers (9-1, 2-0 Eastern Carolina Conference) overpowered the Pam Pack (6-4, 1-2) from the beginning and never let up, now on a 26-set streak in the process. Ayden-Grifton will travel to Kinston Tuesday in an attempt to make it 10 straight.

 

 

North Lenoir powers through Greene Central

LA GRANGE — The Hawks had little trouble against Greene Central Thursday, winning 25-6, 25-14, 25-18 at home to continue their strong showing.

Reena Parris had four kills and Paula Mason added three for North Lenoir (8-2, 2-1) with Amber Davenport contributing 10 assists, along with Gabby Stallings and Kennedy Sullivan providing four service aces each.

The Hawks host Southwest Edgecombe Monday while the Rams (2-7, 1-2) face West Craven at home Tuesday.

 

South Lenoir falls to West Craven

VANCEBORO | For the first time in Eastern Carolina Conference history, South Lenoir has lost two straight.

The Blue Devils fell to West Craven 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 Thursday on the road, two days after losing to Ayden-Grifton in straight sets. South Lenoir (5-5, 1-2) will look to rectify matters Tuesday as Washington plays host.

 

Jones Senior snaps long losing streak in victory over Tarboro

TARBORO | For the first time in 33 games, Jones Senior walked off the court victorious.

The Trojans defeated Tarboro 28-26, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21 Thursday, registering their first win since Oct. 20, 2015 when the team beat Bear Grass Charter to garner a playoff spot.

“We had been close for a while and finally grabbed it (Thursday),” Jones Senior coach Lisa Kinsey said.

Jones Senior (1-5, 1-2) Coastal Plains Conference) will look for another win Tuesday on the road against Chocowinity Southside.
